Effie Tavern: Experience Burgers like Never Before in Lewiston, ID

Have heard many good things from locals about Effie's. Finally decided to try instead of the standard "franchise" burger places and we were pleasantly surprised. The main item at Effie's is a GIANT POUND BURGER ON A 8 INCH BUN. What a deal. It can be easily shard by 2 big, hearty, hungry people, or 4 elders. Get with cheese and double the amount. Curly fries, well fried, were the BEST I have had. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. Effie's must also be good spot for take-out since while we were there 5 people came and picked up their food. This is a place for quick, tasty hamburgers, not for atmosphere. A further testimony to its popularity is fact it has been here in Lewiston since 1967.

AMAZING place!! Had the hot effie and wow it was the best burger I have ever eaten. This place has been here for 58 years for a reason. Outstanding food and service was on point. And to top it off they have beer!!

We walked in and immediately thought wow this is a little hole in the wall for sure. But sometimes those are the good ones so we wanted to give it a try. Even by the pictures we did not really judge how big the burgers were. They were huge. You could easily split one burger between a whole table. The tater tot order was huge as well. The tater tots were pretty basic. The burger was cooked well and the bun was homemade. It is very small inside and an older building, but very cute and a good place to try.

I dont typically give 5 stars for restaurants, but for a quaint little hole in the wall this place is great!! Bring your appetite!! The best burgers I've had in years and Austin is such a sweet gal and great server!! The service is always top notch! It gets busy sometimes so be patient, its definitely worth the wait!! We drive from Spokane and everyone outs in an Effie's order to bring home!! I highly recommend the double bacon cheese burger with double bacon!! Their burgers are a full pound!!! Don't forget the sides! The onion rings are O-A-mazing!! We like to sit and eat the rings while we salivate smelling the burgers cook! I love the tots for a grab and go treat! And the fries are delicious You won't be disappointed with your meal if you love a great burger and side meal! I brought my nephew for the first time and he has a BIG appetite and couldn't finish it!! I loved the costumes and their special birthday song!! Thanks ladies!

Adorable little place with great food, enormous burgers, and excellent service. Our server made suggestions to enhance our meal, was quick to respond to requests all while being ran crazy by a party in the back. You can tell she has great relationships with her regular guests as well.

Super busy place. Be prepared to wait. Popular. Limited menu. Definitely a burger place. Huge burgers n portion. Price is right. Curly fries are short at least mines were. Friendly.

Small ‘hole in the wall’ kinda place with a very friendly vibe. Sat in a booth and immediately started a conversation with another patron. I started to order a double cheeseburger and he warned me “Are you sure? That’s 2 lbs of meat, they’re Giant.” I got the single and was only able to finish 1/2 of it. Fries are a side order and medium is a full pound, I got a small. Overall cool qwerky little place I’m glad I found. Only reason for 4star on food was the bun was a little dry. Steamed under a big cover on the grill for a bit would’ve made it softer.

Only got a HALF of a burger- still huge and it was like $12.00 too. The prices here are so good, food is even better. Cute little family owned business over towards Main Street. Definitely a business I hope stays open FOREVER. You won’t find a better homemade burger than this place. The size of the burgers is insane. The picture is me just holding a 1/4 of it. And it’s literally the size of my face!!
